Job Description

Responsible for accurate and timely invoicing and payments related to purchase power agreements and settlements between Rayburn Country Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Rayburn) and its counter parties. Maintains working knowledge of the nature of Rayburn operations and ERCOT/SPP methods and requirements to be able to verify the accuracy of invoices and payments.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities / Knowledge

  • Interacts with ERCOT/SPP and ACES to verify settlement statements.
  • Verifies power supply invoices.
  • Ensures invoices are properly sorted, coded, verified for appropriate charges, approved and sent to accounts payable in a timely manner.
  • Maintains familiarity with the Rayburn Tariff and prepares monthly invoices for Rayburn’s four (4) Member cooperatives accordingly.
  • Communicates and consults with Rayburn and Member cooperative personnel as needed to ensure meter readings and reporting are received in a timely manner.
  • Tracks accuracy of all power supply requirements to ensure invoices and payments are correctly recorded.
  • Provides back-up for accounting tasks and projects as needed.
  • Reconciles and approves Transmission Cost of Service (TCOS) invoices, maintain TCOS account activity based on approved matrix.
  • Prepares or reviews TCOS receivables invoices.
  • Performs general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Prepares and post journal entries.
  • Prepares financial and month end reports including month end reporting for four (4) Members.

  • Timely shares complete information with others including Rayburn management and staff, contractors, and other third parties, as required.
  • Delegates jobs and tasks to appropriate employees, providing complete information and resources to properly complete such jobs and tasks.
  • Timely provides Rayburn management with complete reports on work and tasks performed as such reports are requested or required.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor or executive management.

Job Related Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business or business required.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience, electric power industry experience helpful.  Evidence of problem solving and analytical experience is required.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a computer workstation.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions in order to use a computer keyboard.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; open file cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
